Highlights from Men's Meeting

Last Sunday night the men met in Moody for an extended time of fellowship and discussion. Here are some of the items we discussed:

We announced an upcoming hymnal supplement, which will include some older hymns not in our hymnal plus a carefully selected group of newer hymns and worship songs. We feel this will be a blessing to our times of singing.

We discussed the baptism service scheduled for the 23rd at the Frees' house. Fathers are welcome to baptize their own children ... or have one of the elders do so. We also discussed options for a lake baptism in August.

We discussed in depth the need for holiness of life as men. We agreed on a plan to establish rotating prayer and accountability partners among the men of the church. We are excited about this! It has the potential to lift the spiritual life of our church and bring in a deeper level of real fellowship. It is not too much to say that it has the possibility of bringing revival into our midst.

We talked about the need to be more involved in ministry and evangelism as families and as a church. We asked Mitch and Vince to take the lead in exploring some practical opportunites for our church to "let our light shine before men."

Dean presented a brief financial report, including a 2006 "Balance Sheet" for Heritage Family Church. Feel free to ask Dean for a copy.

We agreed to establish an ongoing "Full Quiver Fund" for anyone wishing to financially help families interested in reversal surgery or adoption. If you'd like to be a part of this, just let Dean know (or note on the check) that your gift is for the Full Quiver Fund.

We agreed on the need to schedule men's meetings once a quarter.

Scenes from a Heritage Sunday Afternoon

Young girls studying the Bible together ... boys climbing a tree ... fathers and children sharing an outdoor Bible story ... ladies having a relaxed conversation ... Sunday after lunch time at Heritage is a time of happy activity and useful fellowship.

While we're enjoying the time together, let's increase and abound in the fine art of "provoking one another to love and good works."

Latest Email from the Whites

In our last prayer letter, we asked prayer for some major decisions, for God to give us wisdom and clear direction. Thank you for your prayers, we believe that they were answered.

In January, I began serving as an interim-pastor at the First Baptist Church of Eagle Pass. They had been without a pastor for a year and a half. As we were in a transition period in the ministry, and the church in Guerrero was meeting at times other than regular church service times, I was available to fill-in for the church. My plan was to fill-in for them until the mission work prevented me or until they found a pastor.

After several months of serving this church, God began to develop a relationship, and they asked me to consider becoming their pastor. I began to earnestly pray, seeking God's direction in this matter, and I asked others to specifically pray with us. On April 19th, I accepted their offer with the understanding that it would be a part-time position and that we would continue our works in Mexico.

We are excited about this wonderful opportunity and the great potential as we minister on both sides of the border. Many of the people we ministered to in Mexico have family in Eagle Pass, and many people in Eagle Pass have family in Mexico.

Internationally and politically, there is a distinct boundry at the Rio Grande River. But culturally and spiritually there is very little distinction. Ministries in the border areas will naturally flow on both sides of the river.

We believe that God has a very specific purpose in placing us with this church at this juncture of our ministry. Thank you for your continued prayers as we minister on both sides of the Rio Grande River.

Continue to pray for the new church in Guerrero. Br. Barbosa is doing a wonderful work and believes God is calling him to full-time ministry.

His desire is to quit his secular job so that he can devote more time to church work. He is a sign maker by trade and wants to start a sign business part-time to help supplement his income.

The church in Guerrero is still very small and the economy is poor even by Mexican standards. It will be some time before they are able to support a full-time pastor, so his position is more of a missionary pastor. Please pray for this situation.

Br. Pelayo and the church at Nava are doing very well. Church attendance is steady and the men are studying, learning, and growing.

Pray for the Lord to raise up other elders in the church to help Br. Pelayo and pray for souls to be saved in the community.

For the Honour and Glory
of the Lord Jesus Christ,

Daniel White Family
